City achieves What Works Cities silver certification

For the third time in five years, Bellevue has earned What Works Cities certification, the national standard of excellence in data-driven city governance. Bellevue is part of a select group of cities that have demonstrated how their leaders incorporate data and evidence when making decisions.

In 2019, Bellevue made the What Works Cities honor roll, then earned silver certification in 2021. Since its inception in 2017, 62 cities have achieved What Works Cities certification. What Works Cities is a national initiative launched by Bloomberg Philanthropies to help cities use data and evidence more effectively to tackle their most pressing challenges.

Bellevue introduced two interactive dashboards in 2022, one illustrating progress on City Council priorities and one tracking police data, with an emphasis on transparency.

More information about the What Works Cities certification program, led by Results for America, is available at WhatWorksCities.org
